Apprenticeship Training Program
The
IEC of Southern Arizona
Electrical Apprenticeship Program
is registered with the
Arizona Department of Commerce
and the
U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship Training.
The
4-year apprenticeship program
provides 144 hours
(a total of 576
hours)
of classroom instruction
per year PLUS 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.
Classes meet twice a week
in the late-afternoon or evening
for 2 1/2 hours each.
College credit
is earned through
Pima Community College.
Wage increases are guaranteed
every 6 months
upon
achieving
satisfactory grades and work performance.
Job placement,
if not already employed with a member contractor, and continued job
placement throughout the program.
Successful completion
of the 4-year program earns the apprentice a
“journeyman” certification.
Journeyworkers currently earn more than
$18 per hour on average.
